Oasis HD est une nouvelle chaîne télé disponible sur les réseaux cablés au Canada dès maintenant. La chaîne est d'ailleur disponible gratuitement sur Vidéotron jusqu'au 18 août si vous disposez déjà du service HD. Par la suite vous devrez débourser 2,03$ par mois. La chaîne est également disponible sur Bell 1625, Rogers 539 et Shaw 230. Cette nouvelle chaîne diffuse en continu des documentaires animaliers de tout genre. Donc pas comme dans le cas de NGEO où tout ce qu'ils nous servent dernièrement en soirée sont des documentaires plus ou moins interessants sur des camions... ~☼~ Videotron has added the high definition nature channel Oasis HD to its digital cable line-up. A free preview of the Canadian specialty channel is available to subscribers to Videotron’s HD service until August 18. The channel, which can be found on Videotron channel 726, Bell 1625, Rogers 539 and shaw 230, offers round-the-clock programming including documentaries and other programs on a wide variety of topics, from animals to breathtaking landscapes to the latest discoveries from outer space. After a three-month free preview, Videotron HD customers will be able to subscribe to OASIS HD for $2.03 per month.

Sperm Whale Encounter

I've found this vide while surfing on Vimeo. I dream about swimming with a whale of any kind. Imagine this big "thing" swimming just right beside you. Apparently, it is illegal to approach a whale. They are protected internationally so you are not supposed to get closer than 50 meters. Except if you are a video producer ? Howard and Michele Hall are natural history filmmakers specializing in marine wildlife and marine environmental films. Together they have produced numerous films for television including several episodes of the PBS series Nature, a National Geographic Special, and the five-part PBS series Secrets of the Ocean Realm. Ocean Men is the fascinating story of two divers and their unique relationship to the sea. Their goal - dive deeper than anyone has ever gone before on a single breath of air. For more than 10 years, world champion freedivers Pipin Ferreras and Umberto Pelizzari have been vying for world records. This film was produced in 2001. Why am I tlking about it ? French CBC (Canada) have decided to aired  this movie ercently. I just though I would share it with you. If you like free diving, you must watch this. I am sure you can find it in stores or at your local DVD rental. For more information about this movie visit Ocean Channel's on VIMEO. ~☼~ "Les plongeurs de l'Extrême" (Ocean Men), prix du public du 7e festival international de cinéma à la Géode. aJcques Mayol et Enzo Majorca autrefois, deux apnéistes, qui partagent le même amour de la mer, vont devenir amis, puis rivaux, par excès de compétition, par divergence de point de vue. Umberto Pelizzari et Pipin Ferreras nous font partager leur passion pour l'océan, chacun à leur façon. Les images sont magnifiques, mais ne sont là que pour servir un scénario sans faille. Pourquoi je parle de ce film si il a été produit en 2001 ? C'est que Radio-canada a récemment diffusé ce  documentaire. À voir si vous êtes fan d'apnée! Le film est surement disponible en magasin ou à votre centre vidéo.

The 3-D action-thriller Sanctum follows a team of underwater cave divers on a treacherous expedition to the largest, most beautiful and least accessible cave system on Earth. In theatre one Feb 4th 2011. ~☼~ Le réalisateur Alister Grierson a travaillé sur Sanctum, un thriller d’aventure en 3D sur une équipe de plongeurs coincés dans un labyrinthe sous-marin. Le film est produit par James cameron. Sanctum 3D sortira en salles le 4 février 2010 au Canada.

Tiré de l’imaginaire de Jules Verne et de son roman 20,000 lieus sous les mers, Le Capitaine Mark Nemo et ses jeunes aides, Christine et Robbie, parcouraient les océans dans un sous-marin à propulsion nucléaire, le Nautilus. Chaque épisode présentait une histoire, tout en donnant quelques informations sur l'océanographie ou la biologie marine, dont l'intrigue était résolue en cinq minutes et sans avoir recours à la violence. La série Capitaine Nemo reflétait l'influence des années 70 et son premier mouvement environnemental.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau was born on June 11, 1910, in Saint André de Cubzac, Gironde in France. One hundred years later, we are celebrating the anniversary of the man who made an indelible impression on our planet and its oceans.  When Captain Cousteau and his crew set sail on Calypso to explore the world, no one knew yet about the effects of pollution on marine ecosystems, of over-exploitation on resources and of manmade destruction on coastal zones.  The adventures of Calypso were captured on film and drew the public’s attention to the ecological disasters caused by human negligence. Captain Cousteau, through his work and his life, was a leader in environmental awareness. He left it to the Cousteau Society and Equipe Cousteau, the two not-for-profit organizations he founded, to continue his mission. ~☼~   Le 11 Juin 1910, Jacques Yves Cousteau naissait à Saint André de Cubzac en Gironde. Cent ans plus tard, nous célébrons l'anniversaire de celui qui a marqué pour toujours notre planète et ses océans.  Lorsque Cousteau et ses équipes s'embarquent sur la Calypso pour explorer le monde, on ne connaît pas encore les effets des polluants, de la surexploitation des ressources et de la dégradation mécanique des zones côtières sur les écosystèmes océaniques.  Les aventures de la Calypso mises en film, attirent l'attention du public sur le désastre écologique dû à la négligence humaine. Disney's OCEANS out today !

Yesterday I was at the RDV Web. A full day of conferences organized by Infopresse in Montreal at Centre Mont-Royal. One of the conference was about "Life and making a better world" with Thane Calder from Cloudraker. We had a chance to Skype with Jake Eberts who is a movie producer, executive and financier. He has just collaborated to Disney's new movie OCEANS as he is the Executive Producer. We get to be proud as this guy studied in Montreal (McGill University). Below you'll find the trailer of the movie and a featurette. The movie is out in theatre today, "Earth day" ! ~☼~ Hier j'étais présent à la première conférence RDV Web organisée par Infopresse. La journée a bien commencé avec une conférence dirigée par Thane Calder de Cloudraker : "Le web, la vie et un monde meilleur". Nous avons pu, grâce à Skype, vidéo-conférencer avec Jake Eberts qui nous a parlé de son nouveau film de Disney : OCEANS. Nous pouvons être fiers de Jake Eberts et de ses accomplissements car il a étudié ici à Montréal à McGill. Le film est en salle aujourd'hui, Jour de la Terre.

Récompense et acquisition chez Pixnat

(texte tiré de Qui Fait Quoi> www.qfq.com) Le documentaire «H2O Secrets», produit et réalisé par Nathalie Lasselin de Pixnat, a remporté un Prix spécial lors du 13e Festival d’images sous-marines de Belgrade. Le film raconte l’histoire du J.B King, la plus imposante barge de forage et de dynamitage au Canada en 1930. «H2O Secrets» s'était déjà mérité une récompense au Eastern Mediterannean Underwater Festival.  Lasselin a signé récemment les images sous-marines en 35mm de la publicité «J.A. Waterhouse» du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, ainsi qu’un vidéoclip d’une pièce du groupe Malajube, tourné en Red avec le T-bag, un splashbag versatile et économique équipé d’un moniteur externe, d’un follow focus et des sorties vidéo, qui permettent de tourner jusqu'à 15 pieds de profondeur.  Le T-bag est désormais disponible chez Pixnat au www.pixnat.com!
